Who are we?

God.
Is God there?
Is God any good?
Everyone seems to have their own idea about God.  People think the very idea is nonsense.  People think no-one can know anyway.  People think God is there, but irrelevant - either incapable or disinterested.  People think God is an impersonal life-force available for use by those who are initiated into the techniques.  People think God is there and that his purpose is to help them when they are in trouble.
As I walk through the domination of the urban landscape, can I even ask: "Who is God?"  And if I do, will there be an answer?  Is there any chance that an answer, if it comes, will have any meaning in the world of concrete, brick and asphalt?  Can there be 'God' with any significance to people circumscribed by projects worth billions of billions or struggling to buy stock for their dream shop?

John describes God like this:
He promises us spiritual life.  He lavishes such great love on us that we can be called children of God!
John also tells us that the 'world' - the 'system', the way things are organised, the whole might of what is expected - doesn't recognise God.  But people can.

So, the spiritual life and the lavish love can be found even in the urban space which is so dominated by the global system.
