Who are we?

no customers

When things get tough economically, a shop can find itself with no customers.  We all decide that we don't need whatever that business is supplying, and up goes the boring paper.
When John listened to his mentor talking about genuine life and spiritual food, he also watched the crowds of people who had been excited about him get fed up.  They decided that the going was too tough for mere spiritual outcomes; since no more food was forthcoming they decided that they didn't want what was on offer, and lost interest.
John and the others who were being mentored had to choose whether they were going to continue or leave with the crowds.  One of them expressed it for them all:  "To whom shall we go?  You have the words of eternal life."  That was the key for them; the thing they wanted above all was that genuine, spiritual life.  The price was worth it, tough or not.
So, what do I value most?  What is it that I won't give up?
