The trouble with spiritual teachers is knowing whether they are genuine or not. Some are very sincere, but totally unhelpful. Some are very impressive, but have a hidden agenda benefiting themselves. Some are themselves being abused by someone else. Some are living out a psychological disorder. It seems as if there may not be that may who are reliable, who are authentically truthful and connectedly spiritual.

And that is quite apart from all the people who tell me that 'spiritual' is irrelevant, or even non-existent.
John (that ancient spiritual guide) puts it like this: Others 'are thieves and robbers, but the sheep have not listened to them ... The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy;' however this person 'has come that they may have life, and have it to the full.' He had tested the person he was following and found that he was the genuine article with respect to life.
