Here comes another set of “Outsiders” blog posts.
I have been watching a TV series. I am fascinated at how I love these
protagonists who work outside of society, outside of the law, to help people in
danger that no-one else can help. They
are helping people that no-one else will
help. They are needed because the normal
helping mechanisms are insufficient.
They are needed because the entities that are supposed to help are
corrupt.
These people are doing something good, but they are hunted
because they have to work outside the system.
I know that the world is full of good people. I hope that most people are good people who try to do the right thing. But there is this dark side to the world, and
unfortunately the bad people are not always on the “other” side. Often they are on the inside, with me.
Sometimes that makes me feel as if I am on the outside.
That made me think about someone whose life-story is
recorded in the Bible; someone who was hunted, who was forced to be an outsider
for years. I wondered what I could learn
from David about being an outsider and about where God fits into life.
The story can be found in the Bible … it starts at 1Samuel
16 …
