Who are we?

spiritual life in the festive season 1

I can tell the recession is biting.  The shopping centre where I am sitting has almost no tinsel and glitz.  The by-line for the "festive season" is "Peace. Love. Joy."  which contrasts with their everyday encouragement to "Absolute Indulgence".
So, I guess the first thing most of us are confronted with when we approach the festivities is the necessity of buying presents.  Maybe in the background we also remember our desire to receive them and even to give them.   The process can be harrowing as we balance budgets, assess relative values, try to remember what people like and contemplate the wrapping issues.
The BEST assessment of the 'festive season'

So, Is it possible to remember that the presents are about showing love?  Maybe we need to find something that helps us focus on love instead of on budgets and stuff?

  1. good point. Now that the nativity scene doesn't feature anymore in the end-of-year glitz, perhaps it will get easier for people to find that principle of love in the Christmas story :)
